The European Judicial Network in civil and commercial matters has produced some information sheets on the special rules under national law, imposing restrictions concerning the succession typically involving the following assets:
- certain types of immovable property (real estate)
- certain types of businesses,
- other special categories of assets.
For economic, family and/or social reasons, these rules restrict succession involving such assets.
They apply to a succession, under the country’s national law imposing such restrictions, irrespective of the law on succession.
